Straight Key Century Club Straight Key sn120

The Straight Key Century Club, SKCC, is a very active operating club devoted to mechanical methods of generating code, i.e. straight keys and bugs.

This beautiful gold plated key was manufactured by LTA in Spain, and is a very nice reproduction of a Marconi key. A key just like this one was used by a Marconi Co. trained operator on board the Titanic. I plan to use mine while operating at W0S, the Titanic Special Event station. W0S is activated every April from the Titanic Museum in Branson, MO. It purpose is to remember and pay tribute to the Titanic, which sank on April 14, 1912.

This note from the Morse Express web site where I purchased it. The SKCC Key is craftsman-made by LTA in Spain. Based on LTA's "Marconi" key, the SKCC Key features an antique Marconi style key on an oak base. The key features front and rear contacts (for make-break keying), and a cantilever tension spring at the rear of the lever.

This from the LTA web site. Llaves Telegraphicas Artesanas These are hand-crafted keys from LTA ("Telegraph Key Craftsmen") in the Balearic Islands of Spain. We believe these are very reasonable prices for keys that are individual works of art. The keys are hand-assembled on Spanish Oak (LTA calls it "Noble Wood", or "abebay"), or machined brass bases. The straight key knobs are teak, and the fingerpieces for the paddles, bug and cootie key are olive wood. The mechanical parts are solid brass, highly polished and lacquered or gold (18K) plated. Each key shows signs of individual craftsmanship and is unique.

This is a large attractive key and has a commanding presence on the operating desk.
